State Deputy's Message

Message from Worthy State Deputy Daniel Rossi in response to Saint Kateri Squires' volunteer efforts following Hurricane Sandy:

Thank you so much for the wonderful report on the charitable actvities of the Saint Kateri Squires Circle.  Their efforts are tremendously impressive.  I have heard heart wrenching stories over the past two weeks and it is very good to hear some positive messages.  I have to admit I have been overwhelmed by the sheer generosity of Knights from all over the Order.  I have been contacted by Knights from at least a dozen different states with offers of assistance.

In terms of specific ideas where the Squires may be of assistance, the needs are so great it is hard to know where to begin.  There are so many agencies and organizations involved I am not sure how everything is being coordinated.  One idea might be for Circles from your area to link up with Circles in most devastated areas and coordinate efforts.  Another idea may be for Circles to perhaps "adopt" one of the affected areas and provide prayers and messages for Christmas.  You can imagine that many of the families are going to be facing some very tough times over the next months and they will not have a normal Christmas. Perhaps a toy drive might also be possible.  If I can be of any assistance, please let me know.

Thank you once again.  It is wonderful to see the vision of Father McGivney realized in the great works of charity performed by Knights, Squires and Squire Roses.

Vivat Jesus,
